This aroma-filled beef stew will become your new go-to stew recipe! The meat is divinely tender and the sweet hoisin sauce adds complexity to the flavor of the sauce.
INGREDIENTS
- 400g stewing beef
- 200g potatoes
- 100g carrots
- 20g garlic
- 20g spring onion
- 15g sugar
- 10g cinnamon
- 5g dried mandarin peels
- 2 star anises
- 350 ml water
- 150 ml red wine
- 1 Tbsp oil
Sauce mix:
- 5 Tbsp Lee Kum Kee Hoi Sin Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Lee Kum Kee Premium Oyster Sauce
PREPARATION
Soak the mandarin peels in water for about 30 minutes. In the meantime, dice the beef, carrots and potatoes into 2-cm cubes, and slice the spring onion into rings.
Heat oil in a wok or saucepan/pot. Sauté the garlic, spring onions, cinnamon and star anise. Stir in the sauce mix, wine and 500 ml water, followed by the sugar and mandarin peels. Bring it to a boil before adding the beef, carrots, and potatoes. Lower the heat and simmer for 2 hours or until the beef is tender.
