Rendang is an Indonesian spicy meat stew. It is considered as one of the 5 national dishes of Indonesia and has been nominated as the No.1 World’s most delicious dish in the CNN International World's 50 most delicious foods: Readers' picks list. This curry dish is made by stewing beef in coconut milk and spices until the liquids evaporate and the meat turns dark brown, tender, caramelized and infused with rich flavours.
INGREDIENTS
- Bamboe Rendang seasoning paste
- 500g beef*
- 65 ml thick coconut milk
Serve with:
- Rice
PREPARATION
Boil 500g cubed beef until tender. Allow 480 ml of broth to remain in the pan. Add the seasoning paste and 65 ml thick coconut milk and 600 ml water, cook for 30 minutes. Simmer over low heat, stir occasionally until the sauce has reduced to gravy. Serve with rice.

You replace the beef with chicken.
