Taste the flavors of Suriname by trying these noodles with chicken cooked in kasripo, an aromatic flavoring soy sauce. This recipe is very easy to make, especially thanks to Faja Lobi’s ready-made sauces.
INGREDIENTS
- Surinamese noodles
- Faja Lobi Zonnebloemolie Trafasie
- 2 onions, in halved rings
- 4 garlic cloves, pressed
- 800g chicken thigh fillet, halved
- 4 Tbsp Faja Lobi Bami Trafasie
- 4 tsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp piment powder
- 1 tsp Faja Lobi Trassie Trafasie
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 Tbsp Faja Lobi Pinda Sambel (grof gemalen)
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 2 bunches of celery, chopped
PREPARATION
STEP 1: Heat 5 tablespoons of sunflower oil, then fruit the onions and garlic until light-brown.
STEP 2: Add the chicken and stir.
STEP 3: Cover the pan with the lid, and fry the meat on medium-low heat until done. Stir from time to time.
STEP 4: Add the Bami Trafasie, tomato paste, piment powder, Trassie Trafasie, tomatoes, Pinda Sambel and brown sugar. Stir-fry on medium-low heat for a couple of minutes.
STEP 5: Add 150 ml of water. Cover the pan with the lid. Simmer on medium-low heat for 25-30 minutes. Stir from time to time.
Serving suggestion
Garnish the kasripo chicken with the celery and serve with the Surinamese noodles. Pour sauce over it. It’s super tasty with Surinamese pickled vegetables and asparagus beans.
Variation tip
Instead of chicken thigh fillet, you can also use drumsticks.
