Cà phê sữa đá is a refreshing drink made from Vietnamese chocolate-flavored coffee and condensed milk. This delicious iced coffee is perfect on hot summer days as well as quick and easy to brew!
INGREDIENTS
- 4 tsp Trung Nguyen coffee
- 2 tsp condensed milk (or to taste)
- Boiled water
- Ice cubes

- Vietnamese coffee filter (phin)
- 2 large transparent glasses
- Electric kettle
PREPARATION
Preliminary
Boil some water in an electric kettle. Clean the filter and preheat the cup by pouring boiling water into it. Empty the cup and dry the filter. Place the coffee filter on top of the cup. Remove the lid and the metal inner filter from the coffee filter and scoop in the Trung Nguyen coffee. Put the inner filter back on top of the coffee.
Pour a tiny bit of water through the filter just to moisten the ground coffee. Let it expand a bit. This will allow you to get rid of the few small grinds going through the filter. Throw them away.
Brewing
Fill the filter completely with hot water, put the lid on top of it and let the coffee drip. The ideal brewing time is around 3 to 5 minutes. Add the condensed milk to the coffee and mix with a spoon. Let the coffee cool down a bit, then pour it into a cup filled with ice cubes.

Suggestion
You can add the condensed milk to the cup of coffee before it is brewed. This will have a slight effect on its flavor since the boiling water will make it cook slightly. For this recipe, we will add it after brewing, as this will make it easier to determine how much condensed milk you prefer in your cà phê sữa đá. Once you know the quantity like, you can add it directly to the cup before brewing the coffee.
