Indulge yourself with an original snack and use mantous instead of slices of bread for your French toast. Mantous are white and soft Chinese buns which are very popular in Northern China.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 mantous (steamed buns)
- 2 eggs
- 150ml milk
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 30g butter
Sweet spread:
- Powdered sugar
- Yuzu marmalade
- Sweet condensed milk
PREPARATION
Beat the eggs together with the milk and cinnamon.
Slice the mantous. Soak the slices in the egg mixture until it has been fully absorbed.
Melt a knob of butter in a frying pan. Place the slices of bread in the pan. Bake the bread on medium-high heat, on both sides, until it’s golden yellow.
Cover the bread with powdered sugar or smear the bread with yuzu or milk.
