Bring some sunshine into your life with this Surinamese chicken with asparagus beans recipe. This gourmet dish is easy and quick to make, and it is to be enjoyed with family or friends!
INGREDIENTS
Chicken:
- 1 of the 4 Faja Lobi marinades (360ml): Moksie Metie Trafasie/Moksie Speciaal Trafasie/Losie Foroe Trafasie/Barbecue Trafasie
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
- 2 tsp Faja Lobi Nasi Trafasie
- 800g chicken thigh fillet (8 pieces, halved)
Asparagus beans:
- 600g asparagus beans, cut
- 6 Tbsp sunflower oil
- ½ onion
- 2 garlic cloves, pressed
- 5 Tbsp Faja Lobi Kousenband Trafasie
- 2 tl Faja Lobi Trassie Trafasie
- 1 slice of Madame Jeanette pepper
- 150ml water
- 1 tomato, chopped
PREPARATION
CHICKEN
STEP 1: Add honey and the five-spice powder to the Moksie Metie Trafasie, and mix well. Pour the marinade over the meat and stir. Add Nasi Trafasie and stir.
STEP 2: Marinade the meat for 2-3 hours or the night before.
STEP 3: Put the marinated meat in an oven plate and pour the leftover marinade on top.
STEP 4: Grill it for 20-25 minutes in the oven at 200°C.
ASPARAGUS BEANS
STEP 5: Cook the asparagus beans for 5 minutes and drain.
STEP 6: Heat oil in a pan, and fruit the onion and garlic until light-brown. Add the Kousenband Trafasie, and stir-fry for a couple of minutes.
STEP 7: Add the asparagus beans, Trassie Trafasie and Madame Jeanette pepper, and stir. Then add water and cook it for 10 minutes. Add the tomato and chicken in the last 5 minutes, stir and simmer.
Serving suggestion
Serve with Nasi Trasie, Bami Trafasie, and rice.
Variation tip
Instead of chicken, you can also use tenderloin or any other meat you like. It’s also tasty with shrimps. And instead of asparagus beans, you can also use green beans or flat beans.
