This dish has 3 special features:
- The ingredients have been carefully selected according to the rules of compatibility of Chinese medicine.
- Unlike other hot pot dishes, Yipinguo is layered according to the cooking time of the ingredients. Therefore, the lower layers have a longer cooking time than the higher ones. It is not allowed to stir the pot or change the layering.
- Unlike other hot pot dishes, Yipinguo is cooked before being served to customers.

Step 1
Fill the hotpot according to the following layers:
LAYER 1: Chinese herbs & hard vegetables
- ½ sliced daikon*
- 1 sliced carrot
- 150g bamboo shoots
- handful of dried almonds
- handful of dried wolfberries
LAYER 2: Meat
- 1 sliced chicken fillet
- 10 meatballs (beef)
LAYER 3: Seafood
- 10pcs prawns*
- 2pcs sliced abalone*
LAYER 4: Mushrooms
- 10 dried shiitake mushrooms
- 10 dried black fungus
- handful of dried lily buds
GARNISHING LAYER: Tofu
- 8 fried tofu cubes*
- 1 sliced tofu block*

Step 2
Fill the pot with chicken stock until it is just above the ingredients.
Step 3
Bring the pot to boil. Once it boils, simmer on medium heat for 2 hours, and add stock every once in a while to refill until the original level.
