French toast with peanut butter

Hong Kong-style French toast. A sandwich with a layer of peanut butter, dipped in an egg mixture and then fried in oil. Delicious with condensed milk or syrup and butter. A popular breakfast dish in Hong Kong.

  • 4 slices of white bread
  • 2 tbsp smooth peanut butter
  • 10g butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 ml pancake syrup/condensed milk
  • 100 ml of oil

  1. Beat the eggs in a shallow bowl.
  2. Spread the creamy peanut butter on 1 slice of bread and place the other slice on top. Repeat this with the other two slices. Then cut off the crusts.
  3. Then place the peanut butter sandwiches in the egg mixture and make sure that the sandwiches are completely covered with the egg mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a pan. Place 1 peanut butter sandwich at a time in the hot oil and fry the bread for 2 minutes on each side or until it is golden brown.
  5. Serve with butter and syrup.
