Haemul Pajeon is one of the most popular bites from Korea: a pancake made of fluffy dough, filled with spring onions and seafood. Perfect comfort food. 



Ingredients for 2 big pancakes

  • 250g Korean pancake mix
  • 350 ml water
  • 250g seafood mix
  • 8 spring onions

Dipping sauce 

  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • ½ red pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic

How to make it


Defrost the seafood by putting them in the water and drain the seafood. If necessary, cut the seafood in smaller pieces. Cut the green onions into rings or in long strips of 10 cm.

Mix 250 gram of Korean pancake mix in a big bowl, add 350ml cold water and a pinch of salt. By using cold water, the pancake gets a more elastic texture.



Baking pan Ø 27cm
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan. Make sure the whole pan is covered with oil. Pour the batter into the pan with a large ladle and spin it until the whole pan is covered. Add the cut green onions and the seafood on top.

Add some extra batter to make sure everything is covered. Press the ingredients in the batter with the flat side of the spoon. Just to prevent the toppings falling from the pancake.
Fry the pancake on both sides on medium high fire until it’s golden brown.



You prefer thin pancakes? Just add enough batter to cover the entire bottom.



Dipping Sauce 
Mix the soy sauce, vinegar and water in a bowl, and then add the red pepper and 1 teaspoon of garlic.
