Hot Cocoa
Warm up with this delicious chocolate milk filled with Asian herbs!

- 2 star anises
- ¼ tsp fennel seeds
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- ¼ tsp cloves
- ¼ tsp Sichuan pepper
- 1/8 tsp grated nutmeg
- 400ml coconut milk
- 55g bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 2 tsp cocoa powder
- 1-2 tbsp coconut sugar
- Place the star anise, fennel seeds, cinnamon, cloves, pepper, nutmeg and coconut milk in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Place the lid on the pan and let it soak for 10 to 20 minutes. Then pass it through a fine sieve and return the milk to the pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the chocolate, cocoa powder and coconut sugar. Beat it until the chocolate is melted and the texture is smooth. Turn off the heat as soon as it starts to simmer. Use a hand blender or a milk frother to mix the chocolate milk until it foams.
- Pour the hot chocolate into two mugs and sprinkle with cocoa powder. Add a cinnamon stick to stir.
