Char siu sauce is a thick syrupy sauce made from honey, fermented soybeans and spices. Char siu sauce is used to marinate pork for the grill, barbeque or in the oven. Due to the composition of the sauce, the meat has a honey-sweet taste and reddish color. For even more intense flavor and color, the meat can be brushed again with the sauce just before serving.
