Ingredients
- ½ red onion, (thin, half rings)
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp tamarind paste
- Oil
Pepper mixture:
- 30g dried anchovy
- 2 garlic cloves
- 4 small shallots
- 10 dried peppers, soaked in hot water
- 2 fresh red peppers
- 1 tsp fermented shrimp paste
- Mix the shallots, garlic, anchovy, soaked peppers, fresh peppers and shrimp paste in a blender.
- Add some oil in a frying pan and fruit the red onion. Add the pepper mixture and fry until the oil starts to separate from the paste mixture a bit. Now add salt, 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of tamarind paste, and mix well. Fry over low heat until you get the desired thickness.
- Serve the anchovies chili paste together with nasi lemak.
