  • ½ red onion, (thin, half rings)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp tamarind paste
  • Oil

 

Pepper mixture:

  • 30g dried anchovy
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 4 small shallots
  • 10 dried peppers, soaked in hot water
  • 2 fresh red peppers
  • 1 tsp fermented shrimp paste

Information
  1. Mix the shallots, garlic, anchovy, soaked peppers, fresh peppers and shrimp paste in a blender.
  2. Add some oil in a frying pan and fruit the red onion. Add the pepper mixture and fry until the oil starts to separate from the paste mixture a bit. Now add salt, 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of tamarind paste, and mix well. Fry over low heat until you get the desired thickness.
  3. Serve the anchovies chili paste together with nasi lemak.
