Sayur asem is an Indonesian dish consisting of a variety of vegetables cooked in a sweet and sour tamarind soup. There are no rules about which vegetables to use to make this soup - what matters is the tamarind broth! Try Indonesia’s most popular vegetable soup and make it easily at home with Bamboe’s seasoning paste!

INGREDIENTS:

  • Bamboe Sayur Asem seasoning paste
  • 500-700 ml water

300g vegetables:

  • String beans
  • Sweet whole corn
  • Cabbage
  • Zucchini
  • Bell pepper
  • Kangkung leaves
  • Bean sprouts
  • Peanuts

PREPARATION
Clean and cut the vegetables. Boil 500-700 ml of water, add the vegetables (young corn and peanuts first for 5 minutes, followed by bell pepper, zucchini for 3 minutes and leaf vegetables last). Stir in the seasoning paste, and cook for 3 minutes.
