Do you also participate in Dry January? So, let's take up the challenge together! That doesn't mean that we can’t have some fun, though, right? Here is how to make a delicious Caipirinha mocktail, a light and refreshing beverage inspired by Brazil’s national drink!
Virgin Caipirinha:
- 4 lime slices
- 4 lemon slices
- 4 orange slices
- 15 ml simple syrup*
- Ginger beer
- Ice cubes
*Simple syrup:
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup water
Tools:
- Saucepan
- 2 lowball glasses
- Cocktail pestle
- Tea towel
- Rolling pin
- Simple syrup
Pour the cup of white sugar and the cup of water into a saucepan, then bring the ingredients to a simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved. Be careful not to boil the water to prevent the syrup from turning into caramel. Let the simple syrup cool down.
Note: You can store your simple syrup for 2 months in the refrigerator. - Virgin Caipirinha
Mix the citrus slices with 15 ml of simple syrup and a splash of ginger beer. Pound them with the pestle then filter the juice in two glasses. Crush the ice cubes in a tea towel with a rolling pin. Add the crushed ice in the glasses, then top them with ginger beer. Stir a little and decorate the glasses with a slice of lime.
