Preparation time: 35 minutes

Serves: 4

These flavourful and juicy chicken drumsticks are super easy to make and just delicious! Eat them with your hands or serve them with steamed rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 kg drumsticks

Marinade mix:

  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • ¼ tsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • ⅛ tsp white pepper
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 cm thick ginger
  • 5 garlic cloves

Sauce mix:

  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp ginger oil
  • 1 tsp corn starch
  • 2 Tbsp water

PREPARATION

Wash the drumsticks and dry it with a paper towel. Slice the onion into strips, chop the garlic into fine bits, and grate the ginger. Mix the sesame oil, soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, five-spice powder and white pepper in a bowl.

Put the drumsticks in a ziplock bag, then add the marinade mix with the onions, garlic and ginger. Make sure the drumsticks are entirely covered with the marinade. Then put it in the fridge for an entire night.

The next day, take the drumsticks out of the fridge and let them come to room temperature. Preheat the oven at 180˚C. Put the drumsticks in an oven-proof plate, and grill them for about 35 minutes until done.

Scoop up the moisture of the drumsticks, put it in a saucepan, and let it boil down for about 1 minute. In the meantime, mix the corn starch with the water in a bowl. Bring the sauce to a boil, and add the corn starch mixture while stirring. Add the sesame oil and ginger oil, and stir well. Pour the sauce over the chicken.
